Lump on face

Hi, I have a very old chap (17 or so years old -is this normal?) who has developed a large brown lump on his face. It started as a brown smudge which I figured was an ageing thing but now it is an alarming size about 1 1/2 cm across. He doesn't seem distressed and is eating as much as always - is there anything I should be doing or just let nature take its course?

Congratulations on the impressive longevity! Yes, 17 years is probably normal, but rarely achieved. I've heard of cases of 13 years or so.

I would venture a guess that it is some kind of tumor. Any animal that lives long enough will eventually develop tumors. I doubt that there is much you can do.

i also congratulate you on your axies age!. you must take very good care of him for him to live that long!. would u be able to register to the site and post a picture of the lump?
