I cleaned out my Mantella viridis today so took the chance to get some shots of them while they were out.

When I had mine in their previous setup, they climbed quite a lot. They don't seem to "like" their present setup and I hardly ever see them.

If all goes well, I'll be moving them to a new setup soon, where hopefully, they'll behave more like they did before!

In their last setup the whole back wall was covered in cork bark which was heavily planted with Tillandsia and they spent most of their time sitting in the cracks in the cork and I never saw them.
I saw much more of them yesterday and this morning with this setup.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
