Marbled newts -- one year on

Tim, regarding sexing, I think I can identify some from your photos. Look carefully at the orange stripe down their backs. The males will have a broken stripe (like a dashed line) while the females have a broader continuous stripe. I don't know if this is 100% reliable... putting them in water in the spring and seeing an actual crest might be the only way to know for sure.

Tim, regarding sexing, I think the young with red spot are male and the young with the green could be one too (I'm less sure)
