Hi!

I have 3 axolotls, the other 2 are a dirty Lucy and a golden albino, but I'm not sure which Toothless is?

Also bonus points if you know their sex? (They are about 18 months old)

I have done a lot of reading on the subject but am completely lost.

Thank you so much!

looks like a mel to me, but i’m not sure. i’d need better pictures to be sure and determine gender :)

Thanks! How can I get a better picture for you?

get a good sideview picture of the whole body, and probably a shot from above, looking down at the axolotls spine

Are these any good?

They like to hide so I'm surprised I managed to take these so quickly!

Thank you! I guess they could still be a little too young to tell

Bonus points for you anyway :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
