Hi All,

I have kindly been advised by another caudata member to use methylene blue on my axies can someone please tell me do I use a normal dose as whats on the instructions or do I half that dose for the axies???

If someone could advise me I would be grateful as I want to get them in the medicated water asap but dont want to get the dosage wrong.

They are currently in a large constainer in the cold conservatory, also wish I had of known just how blue it is, have stained my hands, white sink and a few other things ooopps!

Thanks Zoe

I responded to your pm - but I would recommend 1/2 dose personally and make sure if you use activated carbon in your filter - to remove it while you are treating them.

Oh man! Not the blue hands!! This stuff is terrible and takes days to get rid of on your skin! As far as I know, nothing removes it, you just have to wait for it to wear off...the things we endure for our pets! take care - shannon

Stuff is horrible to get out. Try some hand sanitizer gel. Usually the alcohol gets it out.

Also make sure that what ever tank you are dosing is not a tank for the long term cause its going to stain the tank/container also.

a friend added it to my tank once because of my axie's reddish toes and fungus, he added a bit, enough to have all 60 L or so all blue... it went away alone in a couple of days and I have to say it was totally ineffective for what I needed.

It didn't harm the axolotl but it didn't get rid of the problem either. (which was resolved using almond leaves in the tank)

Thanks to all of you for your help, appreciated and thanks for the tips hand sanitizer is something we have in bucketfuls due to the swine flu last year my MIL bought us loads :)
