Question: Missing gill?

Hi there,

First of all sorry if this question seems obvious but I've only had Alex and Winston for a few days!

I noticed today that on one of my axolotls, Alex, where he had three gills on one side he only had two on the other. Where the gill looked like it should be there was a stump where the gill should be. I'm not 100% sure if it all the gill that's gone or if only a little of it has gone...

I'll add some pictures but I I'll say sorry now as they are not the best...

I'd appreciate any help as I do worry that they/ it might become stressed or ill...

Probably bitten off by the other axie, or injured and fell off. Either way it will grow back.
