I recently got my axolotl in the mail. I put him in the tank and noticed that one of the six external gills was missing. I cannot say for sure that its bothering him. In fact, hes been exploring his tank all the time that I've observed him
Should I fridge him? Should I give him medicine? I just dont know what to do...:(

Any help is appreciated!

It is not uncommon for young axis who have been sharing a tank to have been bitten by their tank mates. You do not need to do anything extra. A good environment, food, excellent water conditions and some time are all that is needed for your little one to regrow his gill.
When I got mine, the juvenile wild type had half a gill missing, and it has grown back branched, which is cute.
If you look at the thread "Nubbins and friends" you will find that Nubbins was missing feet due to tank mates, and is looking good now.
Keep a close eye on your axolotl, watch for signs of fungus/infection, but he should be fine.
I've only been keeping axolotls for less than 4 months now, so it might be worth getting the opinions of the more experienced keepers as well.
It might also be useful if you could post a picture.
Best of luck with your little one and please keep us posted on your progress.
