Is it true that zoomed forg moss can grow back to life after being dry in a box and what would be the best substate for growing live plants in a terririum without it harming newts/salamanders

It might, but I doubt it.

Use dirt. Plain ol' dirt. If you don't have any pesticide/fertilizer-free dirt available to you in your yard, you can buy some at Home Depot. I've used EarthGro brand for years, and never had any problems. It cost $2 for 50 pounds. If you've got one terrarium, 50lbs will go a long way.

You can also use dirt/coco fiber in combination. In my tanks, I use about a 1:1 ratio of dirt and reconstituted coco fiber. The coco fiber helps dirt hold moisture and shape (for burrowing critters).

ok thanks and where do you purchase live moss form? From reptile expo's?And do you happen to know how to keep care of venus fly traps,if you dont its okay

And I cant use eco-earth as a substate to grow plants right? And what are hyrdo ball by zoomed?Sorry Iam asking you too many questions but Iam about to start a 50 gallon terririum with live plants on land and live plants on the water.

Eco Earth is too loose of a substrate to use as a plant growth medium by itself.

Hydroballs are clay balls that absorb water and give it off slowly.

Venus fly traps need very acidic, nitrogen-deficient soil (as in, you won't be able to grow them in a terrarium with salamanders).

Live moss can be purchased or collected.

ok thank's thats all I need to know for now,Iam going to be putting another thread up sooner or later about setting up the whole 50 gallon tank .
