Hey guys, I am wondering if anything is wrong with my axie. He has grey spots on his head I never noticed before and he was extremely active all last night, swimming and walking around all night. When I turned my lamp on this morning he stopped swimming around. I am going to test my water today to see if maybe my levels are of and that is irritating him. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you!

Update: my friend who is experienced with axolotls believes it's just his pigment and that I have nothing to worry about. He also says the activity is normal. Checked my water levels and they are great so no worries!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
