Okay so I'm very new to having an axolotl as a pet, I've checked symptoms of my axolotl, her gills are not turned forward and her tail isn't curled but she keeps swimming into the glass and 'climbing' the side of the tank. She's very active and I think she's still pretty young. I don't know her exact age though. She has a nice big tank with a low-pressure filter that doesn't affect her mobility and has plants and stuff in her tank. I feed her frozen beef cat food and we're getting her pellets(We couldn't get them immediately in my small town.) So am I freaking out for nothing or is there something wrong?

Hi 😊 Welcome to Caudata.
First of all how long has the tank been set up? Has the tank been cycled.
Secondly the food you are feeding is not good food, are you able to find earthworms instead ?
Lastly have you looked at the resources tab at the top? There are a few really helpful guides on axolotl care 😉

i agree, definitely get her on earthworms asap

The tank had been set up almost two months ago now, however more recently a week or so ago we got sand and did a tank cleanout(we had been cleaning it throughout her not having sand) and I'm pretty sure the tank cycle had started. Currently, where I live we're in a full lockdown and can't the worms but have changed to a highly recommended pellet.

Her filter also has bacteria from the tank from before it broke as we inserted a lil foam piece with bacteria to help it too.
