My Axolotl and his friends

I have read/heard that you are not suppose to put fish etc in with axolotls. My Alex is in with 3 goldfish and they have been together for nearly a year now, no problem. They are too big for him to eat and they keep out of his way.
When i first got them there was one extra smaller fish which i wasn't sure if it was big enough and Alex ate him.

I am fairly new to these as pets and i am learning more all the time.

Does anyone else have any "friends" in with their Axolotl??

Zoe - It is true, you should not keep goldfish with axolotls.

The goldfish could, and I dare say "will some day" eat the axolotls gills off and possibly its legs off.

You have just been lucky so far. I have some yearling goldfish and they are quite large now and defiantly would be able to kill and dismantle an axolotl.

I would suggest you remove the goldfish.

I agree, my goldfish peck at everything. I have two seperate aquariums. One for my goldfish who I have had many years and one for my axie who I have had about 18 months. My goldfish even like to peck at eachother!! I hate to think what damage they could do to my axie.
