Illness/Sickness: My axolotl Fiyero is dropping its tail

Maybe try earthworms? They can be pretty darn irresistible to an axie. Also pretty good are pellets and blackworms, though those are difficult to feed- I only have Trouble whom I feed blackworms ('coz he's in the kitchen next to my blackworms which I've got as a backup food for the babies), and it took us both a few days to get the hang of the worms- I use a pipette (You can get a six pack of Teachers' Choice brand for $6 from Riot), and put it in front of his mouth. He then attacks it enthusiastically whist I try to not hurt him, freak out and get the pipette's contents squished into his mouth...

Condolences for your loss Hopefully he is having a blast playing in the Great Lakes, and I'm certain he's grateful for all the care, diligence and love you gave him whilst he was on this mortal coil...

That's so sad I'm sorry for your loss! Sounds like you did everything in your power to save him. Will there be a fiyero the second?
