Question: My axolotl has 5 legs !!

Me and my husband have been looking to get some axolotls for a while. we went to the local pet shop and brought 2 one albino and one black one as it turns out after another axolotl had bitten off his one leg it had regrown with 2 legs one pointing down and the other pointing down and both legs work just wondering if this is heard off ??

My girl must have had her foot nibbled in the past. She has a weird "lump" above her toes that may be a toe. Her front paw was also, and it seems to have grown back in a weird way. So its possible. Got a picture to share?

I've heard of regeneration getting a little too enthusiastic and giving extra limbs. The most I've ever personally seen was an extra toe on my Godric's foot.

Yes, it's been heard of many times before, although a whole functioning leg is pretty unusual. One of my axies has 6 toes on one foot too.

I once found a pacific giant salamander with 6 toes, it was really weird!

I read about someone who's Axie has 5 legs too, after regenerating it grew back the original but another leg was also attached but growing the opposite direction, weird but you have nothing to worry about.

Some of mine have weird deformities too. Not quite an extra leg but one of my wild juveniles has a front leg that points up so it looks like it's always waving! I love their wee quirks, gives them character :happy:

Yep, it can happen. I had an axolotl with a half bitten foot. The foot recovered but it regrew another facing backwards. So it had 4 legs and 5 feet.
