This is my first Axolotl. The tank is a bit bare right now as i'm working on putting in the fake plants/more hides. I have no idea of the age or the gender. I was basically given it at my local petstore.

Hi & welcome :)

That's a cute axie you have there!
What's his/her name? It looks like it's a juvenile & still has some growing to do, how long is it :D

Well, he/she doesn't have a name yet. And It's about 4-5 inches long(estimating).
Working on a name still :p

What a beauty!
You might want to consider putting sand in as a substrate instead of the rocks. They look to be too big for the axy to eat, but it's better to be safe than sorry (especially for when it gets bigger)! Also, it's much easier to clean :)

What a pretty little axie, I love his/her colour. What a wonderful gift to receive.

Thank you all!
I was thinking of taking the rocks out until I can get some sand. Any suggestions on what kind of sand to get? I live nowhere near a town, so It'll be towards the end of the month until I can get some. For my hermit crabs I use clean play sand, I know that they're completely different but it's worth a shot to ask if that works. Thanks! :)

Play sand would actually be awesome, but you have to clean it first. Then again. And another time. And once more after youre pretty sure its squeaky clean

I use a black silica coated marine sand
