The last picture of my two boys together.. as it may be obvious to see, my melanoid is very skinny and has hardly any filaments. This was something I was really working on because I wanted my baby to get better. But I think he was too far gone, and no matter what I did was only prolonging the inevitable. Winston (the albino) is healthy, happy, and regrowing his filaments! Unfortunately, Remi passed away at some point today when I wasn’t home. It’s very heartbreaking to me, as I was trying my best to keep my boys happy and healthy. I’ll sure miss him, he was quite the goofball.🖤

Oh I am so sorry for your loss, You seem like you loved him a lot and are a wonderful Axolotl parent.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
