Hey all. I'm new to axolotls but have been keeping all sorts of fish for a good while.
These two guys were in my local fish shop and needed a home. Someone dropped them off the day before I saw them.
The grumpy-faced one on the right is a bit larger than the smiley one on the left. The LFS said they'd just become old enough to start breeding. Not sure which one is which sex, though.
Grumpy is missing most gill frills. Hoping they'll come back with good care. They're in a 45 with a big old Eheim 600 (flow turned down), taken right off a 180 with Severums. So I'm thinking that cycling shouldn't be an issue.
Keeping the temp at 62 and trying different foods. They're not too interested, which I understand is normal after a couple of days in a whole new environment. So far I've tried earthworms, pellets, and supermarket shrimp, with the shrimp being accepted by Smiley at least.
Any advice on making sure they thrive would be much appreciated.
