My gold axolotl front leg is bright red and looks like its going to come off. We change the water every 2-3 days use water conditioning and fees them a mix if pellets, blood worm and garden worms. Hate to think she is in pain. I have read somewhere about fridging you axolotl for her with healing, anyone know if this might work.

is this a bite? does she have any tank mates? if so, what size, species, and gender? how big is her tank and is it cycled? what kind of conditioner do you use? is uneaten food kept in the tank for more than an hour or so?
i’m worried about septicemia and red leg. has she had any other injures lately? possible ones that could have been infected?

So I don't think it is a bite, she has 2 other axolotls in the tank with her. We use tetra aquasafe condioner, yes there has been pellets here in the tank for a day we pit them in and if they are not eaten by the next day we take them out.

in my opinion, and i am by no means a vet, this looks like a rather nasty bite that has been infected with fungus.
if it were me, i would take the following steps. please take any and all advice i give with a grain and salt and the knowledge that i‘m merely a 17 year old kid.

1. tub her immediately, using fresh, clean, dechlorinated water
2. call a vet and set up an appointment. this is a nasty case that she could very well die from if not treated properly.
3. discuss possible amputation with the vet. the leg appears to be too far gone to recover from (in my opinion - see the first picture in the last set you posted) if necessary, i can assist in giving advice for at home amputation, (under anesthetic) but would much more recommend a vet doing so, as they are trained professionals
4. introduce IAL (indian almond leaves) to the tub or start giving tea baths
5. consider salt baths, and read about the dangers they can pose, as well as the benefits
6. change the water 100% on a daily basis

you got a cooler :D Thats so cool! i normally chill their water down if it gets too warm with clean dechlorinated water when they were in their bigger tanks. i'll need to get one that can work with two tanks at some point. or find them for cheap and get two quiet ones. since im in an apartment.
