I should really take some more pics.
I'll see if I have time to get some new pic of the one's I'm keeping tomorrow

Yikes  your guys are getting huge now must be all that tender loving care and their HUGE tank.... still jelly of that by the way. I'm glad they are doing so well. And the darling Tequila, how is she doing these days? Won't be too long and she can go in with the others by the sounds of it.

I still here from a few of the new mummies and daddies. Mostly the odd email here and there but there are a few that stand out and send me the odd pic via mms.

Albie (another wild) Is doing well and enjoying his worms apparently  He's growing like a weed too now.

The 3 runts (2 golds and a wild) I had that were at best 5cm long went to a loving mommie last Wednesday and have settled in nicely and are doing well. Still have no idea how big the will get but the girl who took them has a real passion for runts/injured and neglected animals and is loving having the 3 of them.

Another Hyopmelanoid and Gold went out on the weekend (Sunday) and I've been getting texts from their new mummy and they have settled in well too. One wasn't eating yesterday but that was to be expected after only 24 hours.

My collection from this batch is growing. I've put 'Leopard' back to be sold and have added Spaghetti O in it's place. His mouth isn't formed right and he looks like he is permanently saying ooooooooo it's not holding him back at all though and he's eating and growing just fine. I'll sell him though if I find the right person to look after him.
I still have Rukmini and Hoo-Dee-Nee and have added the NEW Leopard, one of the golds just because I want to see what it turns into ad I found a VERY purple Hypomelanoid in the for sale tank so I've nabbed that one out and he or she will be staying with me. It's been named Violet (Vi) and Lachlan, the 3yo, is thrilled to have an axie that is his fave colour, Purple.

I'm down to 2 of the Hypomelanoids, 13 of the gold and 16 wilds so 31 in total which isn't bad considering I started with 90 odd. Feel free to send them on over, still plenty left ;)

I've had to move Dillon (Daddy) OUT of the tank he shared with Chrysta. Including the batch I'm selling they have gotten it on 6 times in 5 months and he was working on #7 so out he went to give Chrysta time to recover. I might throw them back together in early January and go again, assuming they co-operate again, but we'll see how I feel about that closer to time ;)

Thank you
Dad (Dillon) is a mostly black and silver Wild type with dark purple gills. Mum (Chrysta) is a pretty golden albino with beautiful dark red bushy gills. I'll see if I can find some pics for you.

lol ok but just because it's you asking lea.
Fish has been a VERY naughty little axolotl. He will happily pose if I'm just sitting looking at him. He'll swim around, flap his gills at me beg for food etc. but the moment I go get the camera or he sees it this is the response I get (pic 2). I've taken more pictures of Fish's rear than I care to think about  EVERY stinkin' time! Don't have very good eyesight huh... I swear he can see the camera from half way across the room!

I did get 1 very blurry one of his head while he was sulking in his cave after a few more shots of tail  but it's as good as it gets of late I'm afraid. It's all pale and washed out and not at all true to life colour wise. Such a cheeky bum.

Truth be told, unless you knew that his eye was too dark to be albino you'd think he was just another golden albino.

Hey,

You babies are gorgeous  We've been thinking about getting a friend for our guy for a while and we really want a white one but have been worried that Clarence would get territorial and nasty if we were to introduce a friend. We live in Perth and would prefer to buy from a breeder than a store

He was with tank mates at the pet shop but he's been on his own for a few months now and he thinks he's a bit of a dude. I measured him on the weekend (as best as I could through the glass) and he's about 20cm from the tip of his nose to his tail so your guys are smaller. We also wanted another boy because while babies are cute I know we would never want to get rid of them and we'd end up with a million little axies.

Any advice?

Plus I thought I would add some pics of our little guy and his house because I just can't resist!

thanks mereB I love seeing him....he is such a chubby axie:p. He is a very spoilt boy. You have done a great job raising him.

@muffinhead he has a lovely smile.

Awwww look at that smile  You've got a cutie there Muffin.

Unfortunately there isn't really a reliable way to sex them while their little and if you don't want eggs you will absolutely need to get another of the same sex.
I found that measuring through glass was far from accurate and the further from the glass they were the more off the measurement was. Best bet is to put him into a plastic container with a clear base and put the tape under him and read it that way. Fish grew 3cm all of a sudden that way  and I was measuring him from right up against the glass.
I don't have any white ones (the hypomelanoids are actually pale grey) and your guy has a good inch or more on mine. He's probably closer to Fish in size.
Unfortunately I don't know of any other 'breeders' in Perth either :(
If you're ever in Cannington then Pet magic on Albany highway has a guy who breeds some of their store axies but I don't think he's got any he's bread at the moment. He seems to know what he's doing and while the ones for sale are in better than usual condition for a petshop they are still quite frequently missing gills etc. Theirs are also usually on the smaller side so might be worth a look. At least they house theirs properly  only ever a few in the tank, no substrate, plenty of hides and they do try to keep the water movement to a reasonable minimum while still having the filter work effectively.

Hehe Thanks Lea. He's a little guts, LOVES his food just like his mother. It wasn't till I pulled Dillon out on his own that I realized how little he actually eats. Clearly most of the pellets I put in on feed days were being eaten by Chrysta
I'm actually starting to wonder if Fish is in fact a She, not a he. His bulge is all but gone now after being so prominent all this time and his body shape is looking decidedly more female. He/she will be 1 on August 25th. I'll have to pull him/her out of the tank and MAKE him co-operate for some proper gender shots. See if anyone can help sex him.
I think I may try to re-home/sell Fish. It's becoming very difficult to house the 3 different sizes of axie. Fish is too small to go in with his parents but too big to go in with his younger siblings

Get rid of Fish?

I would say that would be a very unpopular move with the Fish Fan Club.

Yes I dare say it would be :p I guess I will just have to find a way to reshuffle the tanks I have so that it works better. If only Dillon would stop putting down his little packages.
It's depressing not being able to landscape any of the tanks the way I want to because they all have ugly dividers in them :( I know how I want it to look and pretty much how I can do it without sacrificing too much water volume and even manage to turn a large portion of the tank into an awesome filter I just don't have the tank to do it :(
OK I won't think about getting rid of him until I've sold the last of the babies and have my 5ft tank back again. Right now it has minimal decoration so I can catch them when people come to get them.
I really need to sell the 5ft and 2 4ft's I have and get a nice 5x2x2. I'd prefer a 6x2x2 but I just don't have the space.

Edited to add
ooooh may have just found a 6x2x2 with stand for $500 :D Fx he's still got it and it hasn't been sold already.
