Hi Sean,

It was worth the download. That is a nice tank!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing that, wow your water is crystal clear. Mine's sort of brownish as there's wood in it.
Nice large setup, they have plenty of space to swim.

Very nice tank, plenty of space. There is no way to post videos here directly, so posting a link is fine. If you wanted to be really nice, you could post a couple of still shots here for those whose computers are too slow to run videos.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I got home late tonight so no time to take pics but hopefuly I will have time tomorrow.I will have to get my user guide out for my camera because it seems I cant take a good close-up shot.I do have a couple of smaller videos in the 2MB range though that would load easier.I will also post one of them tomorrow.Until then,Goodnight!

woow that is so freakin awsome really inspireing

Here is so pics finaly of my setup as Jennewt suggested.I am terrible at photography but I am trying to get better. And your right Ester,I think I need to build them a bigger land area since they hang out alot on land.My favorite thing about the setup is the moonlight sand.At first I thought it was just too white and looked like snow but it has grown on me nicely. Its a nice background and contrast the Easterns greatly.

Glad your easterns are doing great my died 19 days in. Can you mix them with Firebellies

Eastern newts are tricky. If you are lucky to get hardy ones, they do well, but a lot of them die in the beginning. It is never a good idea to mix newts from 2 sources (same species or not), as they often arrive with diseases or parasites.

Jen,does that also apply to new members of the same species that have been quarantened for a month or two.Could they carry(harmful) disease and/or parasites that long? Only asking because I was thinking of getting a few more Easterns and putting them in a seperate enclosure for about 2 months and then mixing them with the others.

If they are quarantined for 2 months, the odds of them infecting each other are much lower. But not zero. Most people would consider it an acceptable risk; there are situations where you need to put together newts from different sources.

what would they be Jen?

Males from source X. Females from source Y. Any hope of breeding would sort of depend on mixing them

Secondarily, I think there are circumstances where animals need to be combined in order to reduce the total number of tanks being maintained. But that's a situation where the keeper has to weigh their own convenience against the risk to the animals.
