My tank is now up and running!

Pardon the cloudiness, that will go away in a day or so.
Size: 20g long, 30"x12"x12"
Filter: Zoo Med 501
Substrate: pool filter sand, I've used this kind before and it's just beautifully natural looking
Plants: assorted anubias, Java fern, pilo moss on the pot and frogbit floating

I wanted to have a tank that looked lush and green while not having any rooted plants the axie would tear up. I'm planning on getting a dimmer for the light to experiment and see if I can get a level good for everything inside, but largely I'll have it off for a large portion of the day once I get my axie. I'm very excited about how it looks over all For the next 3-4 weeks I'll be monitoring the temperature of the water, making sure the plants are happy and getting the tank cycled. For right now I have the spray bar pointed into the body of the tank but that's just for the plants right now as they appreciate water movement, but I've tested with it pointed towards the wall and it baffles the water enough I won't need anything else to keep the flow low enough for my axie.

Nice! Lucky axie!

I have many similar plants and do 8 hours of light in a 24 hour period for them. The hornworm and ducked help shade too.

Yep, I think that's the plan I'm going to go with, I have a timer I'm going to set up for it. I'm really excited because the temperature in the tank this morning was 67F and I'm hopeful that October will already be cool enough to keep the tank closer to 60.

I've definitely been looking at getting a pre-filter sponge for the spray bar and have one ready in my amazon shopping cart if I end up needing it
