That's a great story. Hopefully this modification to the canals will serve their purpose. I hope the giant salamanders traverse the steps easily enough to make it worthwhile.

They are my favorite species of cryptobranchid...the two here at th zoo in Omaha are improperly housed, but they are amazing to observe. The largest is a cool four feet long and easily weighs 75 lbs.

If I ever win the lottery, these will be one of the headline species in the endangered caudate breeding compound of my dreams.

I believe I saw a video somewhere of these giants being housed in a zoo in the US that was successfully breeding them. Maybe I saw that on here? It was a fantastic stream enclosure.

Anyways...these giants are spectacular. I love their prehistoric features.
