I am looking for a natural way to filter my mostly aquatic tank for my fire newts i don't really want to contiue to use my filter it cause a current that the newts do not seem to like much please help

what i am really looking for is a way to filter my tank using only rocks plants and water change but i am not sure if that is possible and if it is i am not sure the proper way to achieve my goal i don't want any harm to come to my newts though

Maybe see the other recent thread - try an air pump, line and sponge filter.
I'm not sure natural or unnatural are helpful descriptions, Jeebus, but a sponge filter (if the water is deep enough)attached to a pump will solve the problem of too much current. Ask in the petshop.
A filter like that - just like the one you use now I guess (internal power filter maybe?)- IS very natural... it uses good bacteria to clean the water.

Or an undergravel filter using only an air line,to produce a bacterial filter in the stones.

V true - the good old ug filter.
A bit off-topic, but I saw a marine fish tank the other day run entirely off an undergravel.
My point is they are old-fashioned but can work well.
If you buy an airpump you've got the flexibility about what filter(s) to add, subtract or combine.

Ok, i've heard about this sponge filter thing...how exactly does it work? (and don't leave out any details , cause i am a filter layman...no idea...)
