I got my axolotl back in July, and he’s grown pretty big, around 8 inches. A couple days ago I saw a tiny white piece on the edge of the gill stalk, and I have recently tubbed him. It hasn’t really grown too much, but I was doing some research about it, asking people who work with axolotls what I can do for him. I’ve gotten many different answers. He seems fine, as he’s been eating and his behaviour has not changed. Will doing 100% water changes everyday with cool water be enough for him to fight the fungus?

Funguses are really tough so I don't think that just tubbing him will be enough. While fridging and salt baths can help and make it go away, typically it can come back. What I did when mine had a fungus infection was use methylene blue (DO NOT USE GREEN!!) But this method can be dangerous seeing as axolotls and chemicals don't mix. I would definitely look into getting some though if you've tried other things. Just make sure to do your own research on it and not just take my word for it as well as make sure that the product you get doesn't have some inactive ingredients (or active ingredients for that matter) that can be harmful to them and use a small dose.

best thing for fungus is Indian almond leaves, add some into the tub, you can also nudge the fungus with a cotton bud very, very gently to see if you can remove it. if this doesn't clear it, look up how to do black tea baths on axolotls.

Thank you! I tubbed him for a day with indian almond leaves, it fell off the next morning. I put him back in his tank due to the fact he wasn’t eating in the tub. No more fungus, and he’s back to normal :)
