I'll bet you never thought you'd see me in the frog section...

A friend of mine wants to get White's tree frogs. I'm clueless here, but want to help her. Does anyone have a link to a good caresheet somewhere on the 'net? Are they commonly captive bred? How would one find a good breeder? Any help appreciated!

Hi Jenni,
They are very commonly captive bred but there are wild caught ones available from Indonesia (usually thin adults). There is even a pretty nice inexpensive book they can get that covers this species (see http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1882770366/qid=1083323146/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/002-0739006-9245662?v=glance&s=books )

They are a hardy and easy to care for frog although the babies can on occasion be delicate if they have been mishandled.
I would recommend them as a starter frog.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
