I bought 4 crocatus a 45 days ago cThe sizes were approximately 4”, 3.5”, 2.5, and 2.5.

When I first got them the two smaller ones were eager to eat and the larger one more stubborn.
After about three weeks I noticed the smaller ones stopped eating and were hanging out on the glass wall. A few days later I noticed the ends of thier tails missing. A week later one of the smaller ones died and a week after that the other small one died.

This left the two larger ones. The smaller of the larger then stopped going in the water a few days ago and tonight I noticed it’s tail tip missing.

I know now the larger is the culprit. I set up a 9” deli cup and rehoused the injured newt to it keeping it on damp paper towels and a hide spot.

Has anyone seen behavior before with this species? And should I treat the tail tip with some kind of medication?

Thanks
