I will be receiving a trio of Kaiseri in a few days and was just curious about their setup. I had a pair a few yrs ago but had to give them away when i studied abroad for a semester and their tank setup was just sand and some fake plants. Also any special rocks i should use to help with water chemistry?
I really want to customize a 15 gallon tank to mimic their natural setup and was curious if anybody knew what the rivers and ponds they come from in the Zagros mountains actually look like? Sand vs larger gravel or a mix? Any live plants? I know they are skiddish towards light so planning on just having a small light to help some moss and simple lowlight plants grow and will only have it on a few hrs a day. Was planning on adding a land portion so they could come out of the water too, this will be a third of the tank but will still have water underneath it since i will probably use glass to build a platform. Should the land portion just a a simple top soil?
I have read the care sheet on the site and multiple others already and just was curious what other people are doing?
Any pointers will help!
When they arrive i have a ten gallon setup with 50% water with a small internal filter and large gravel substrate (Large enough so they will not swallow it) and some java moss and rocks for hides and a small turtle platform too. The tank has been cycling for about three weeks with a 25% water change a week.
