Just bought a 55gallon tank! I'm so excited they are upgrading from a 10 gallon tank lol any tips about bigger tanks and what not? I am using a marineland power filter emperor 400 and also got a used filter so my tank should run its cycle quicker ?

That's fantastic! Did you buy a used filter? Never thought of doing that before , interesting idea ... I guess I'm scare to buy used stuff cause the unknown . Did it comes with old media too?
 
It was from a friend he gave me one of his bio wheels! :) that has already built up bacteria
 
Oh wow that's gonna look nice! Make sure you show us what your tank looks like with everything set up :3
 
I know I'm so excited! I have so much ideas going through my mind and I can't wait to get 2 more axies! A golden albino and copper one :) man there is so much space in this tank!

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
