Ok so i have managed to resist getting any new axies for about a year now, but it got the better of me, and yesterday i picked up a 4" baby wildtype.
its so cute, but now seems how its in a new tank of its own (untill its big enough to meet my adults), i dont want it to feel lonely :-( so may get another in next few days.

KEEPING AXOLOTLS IS VERY ADDICTIVE !! but i love it :)

What a cutie.
Yes, so addictive! I have to get a hold of myself every time I visit a pet store.
Is the astro turf easy to clean? It looks great.

yeah it is, i just lift it out, and shower it down for a minute or two and its as good as new again. my axies love it, as they can grip on when theyre walking around and yeah it does look good too :) my nephew (4 yr old) thinks they look like little dinosaurs walking around in an underwater forest ha ha.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
