New Member - How many can fit in my tank?

Hi,

I'm currently cycling a 50g 36"x18"x18" tank that I plan to put axies in. I originally wanted to get three but I'm starting to think that might be one too many once they get bigger, but I still really do want three. One male and two females or vice versa. Currently I have two rock caves that should be large enough for them especially over time.

What do you think? Would three axies be alright in this size tank? Like I said, II think I've already decided to get only two but I thought I'd try here for one last ditch effort, haha.

It states that the minimum requirements would be 10gallons per adult axolotl, therefore I would say that your tank would be acceptable for 3.

Please read all of the articles relating to housing and water quality etc. before purchasing your axolotls. I found the site very useful.

Should be plenty for 3 axolotls. The longer the tank, the better, since floor space is almost as important as water volume, but it should be fine. That's still one foot per axolotl. Your tank will be long enough for 3 and plenty wide, and it will be more than enough volume assuming you fill it all the way up.
