Okay, since the Axolotl forum that's in Hawaii on a different social media platform never answered my question. They have only given me sarcastic answers which frustrated me as I am only wanting the best for Sprout.

I was wondering if anyone knows any places in Hawaii that sell them?

It is illegal to import worms to Hawaii so it's very tricky. The fish bait shops are also not allowed to sell live bait according to the fishing shops I had called and asked around... And sadly I do not have a garden, etc because I live in an apartment.

I've been feeding Sprout (They are all Hikari brand) brine shrimp, bloodworms, occasional mysis shrimp, and carnivore sinking pellets. I also do have these axolotl pellets I got from amazon (I think they are called Invert Aquatics Soft Pellets for Axolotls or something like that.)

And once in a while I feed him small pinhead sized crickets (once a week or every two weeks) which I get from my local pet store. But they only sell mealworms or crickets. I just want to give Sprout food that is more appropriate for his diet as he gets bigger... and of course for the long run.

And if I am feeding him things he should not be eating please do let me know!

Thank you so much!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
