I have 2 axolotyls and 1 of them has not eaten for over a week, they both feed on live pond food and earth worms, if anybody has some advice can you please let me know:hat:

Hi Darren. What is the temperature and readings of your water? And what do you have in the bottom of your tank? Gravel, sand etc.

Tank is at 18.4 Celcius and the bottom is small rocks I have read that sand and small pebbles were not recommended so I chose the rocks

Yes thats great. What about the readings, like ammonia, nitrate etc. Do you know these? If they are not correct it can be deadly to axolots. How is their gills and tail looking? Is the gills normal or are the facing backwards, this shows stress as does the tip of the tail being curled? Do you chop the earch worms up into smaller pieces. This might be worth a try, or maybe trying something else like bloodworms.

All other levels are fine. its tank mate being about the same age does not have any signs of problematic. I have quarantined it and have tried bloodworms

Hi Darren,

what size are your axies and is the non-eating axie a male?
I belive in Australia its winter-time and maybe breeding-time.
If all the parameters are fine and your axies adult and healthy, it doesn´t matter if they won´t eat for some days excpecially adult males.

Could you post a picture please to eliminate illness.

Tina, Thankyou for this, however I should have mentioned both are jouvenilles, the 1 in question is black so at this stage a photo will have to wait until daylight.

There are no visible signs of discolouration with the skin tone, the size is approximately 10cm in body length and about 18 cm in total length nose to tail
