Yes, I did check out those frequently recommended sites. I have readings of
Ammonia- 1.0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
I'm pretty sure that there's some bacteria in there, I've seen the ammonia levels rise and fall. The problem is that the nitrite and nitrate levels never changed. What should I do now? Will a Bio-wheel replace this mess altogether?
 
How long have you been cycling? It can take up to 3 months in some cases. Heating the water will make it cycle faster.

Using a biowheel just gives your bacteria some place to grow.
 
It's been cycling for about a month. I thought that when the ammonia levels drop, nitrite levels rise. I think I'll just buy the filter...
