Odd colored cyanurus larva

This hatched about a 10 days ago and started feeding on chopped blackworms and some brine shrimp naupli (in the interest to see what the adult colors would be I went to the extra effort to hatch brine shrimp).

I was unable to get a side shot but there is no visible pigment except in the eyes and all of the gut contents are visible. I have had light ones hatch before but this is the first that looks like this one.

I've had some very bright larves too and they all ended up getting colour, however I'm looking forward to see what happens with this little fellow. Keep us update.

I was just at Ed's house yesterday briefly and got to see the light colored larvae. It is continuing to mature, but keep this hypomelanistic appearance. There were other light larvae, but not nearly to this degree. I offered to come back some time and photograph it with my macro kit, so maybe some time I'll drive back down there and do so. But for now, all signs show that this should be an interesting metamorph in the near future.

If he remembers, he can bring it to my house on Friday and I will photograph it. From when we spoke the other day it's still doing well.

Hi Tim,
Still a creamy white and it is getting pretty big now (its larger than the C. pyrrogaster morphs I have seen) and shows no signs of coloring up yet. The other similar age class larva vary from a light to dark color depending on a number of things including the substrate color but this one has shown no variation in color. I would not say that it is hypomelanistic as it has dark pigment in its eyes.
