Hello ,
Strange thing is happening in my axolotyl tank , my parameters seem good the tank is cycled, but I notice this weird white slime like material 2nd day after I introduced my wild type ,. Temp is about 68 I run tank fans . And float a water bottle once in awhile other than that I'm pretty baffled art what this is? Been keeping fish and amphibians for years but never cold water stuff anybody have a theory? And my axie is tubbed until I figure out what is causing this. Thanks 👍

I get the same stuff in my tanks, and I've heard from a lot of people here that they get it too. I'm not sure exactly what it is, maybe a build up of excess beneficial bacteria or something, but it's completely harmless.

Yeah it like manifests in 2 days with completely good water it's crazy thanks for the reply

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
