Hi Everyone,
Sorry It's been a long time since I visited.
I have a yellow spotted salamander that I've had since Juvie stage and is over seven years old and am considering giving him away due to the probability of moving. He's been living in a 20 gallon aquarium with the temps kept at around 69-73 degrees fahrenheit and living off of gut loaded and vitamin plus calcuim dusted crickets.
What are your opinions about giving away a seven year old yellow spotted salamander and do you think there would be enough people here with experience owning and keeping one alive to want him? I'd only be interested in giving him away in that regard so I'm also trying to guage interest. How do you ensure the safe shipping of one this old?
My apologies if this should be moved to the give away forum, but I'm not entirely sure of the prospect as of yet. The other option I was considering was sending him to family in the Ohio Valley in Kentucky during the fall and let him back into the environment so he could experience freedom, lol, but I've heard many times the danger of introducing pathogens to the environment that way. That's why I'm asking for opinions here first.
Thanks!
