I feel like an idiot. I posted on here a lot lately and I am sorry. I need help. I was using, to my own ignorance, reverse osmosis water for my terrestrial eft substrate. He is bloated because he has fluid retention. HOW DO I BRING HIM BACK TO HIS NATURAL STATE?! 😭😭

What will balance his Osmosis regulation out? Do include salt of any kind? Mind you he is terrestrial this is just for the added moisture of his substrate. He also couldnt molt completely and has dark lingering patches of skin. I soaked almond leaves so once osmosis is regulated he can get the tannin nutrients and stave off any infection.

Please help. 😭😭

Wow so I was really freaking out here. Lol. My apologies. The animal is okay! I woke up in the middle of the night and checked on him. He didn't look well at all last night but when I peeked at him he had almost completed a full molt. I will be using spring water from now on. But after being the lone survivor of an infected batch of newts, and then having this patchy shed on his neck for 2 days, suffering from edema, and his spine began darkening last night, and no help from exotic vets around my area... Needless to say my worries were valid, but he has molted with only a little bit left around his tail. No abnormal signs of shed. His bloating is down. His spine is a healthy color again. I believe the almond leaves were a huge help with this, since they are what initiated his molt a few days ago, I assume they are what helped him complete his shed.

How is it possible he went through so much and yet has remained so resilient? šŸ’œ such hardy little fellows Notos are. I believe now that the patch of skin on his neck is gone he is able to balance his osmoregulatory system again. I love this little champion.
