My babies are about 2 months old and we ran out of food today. All the pet stores closed before we could go get more frozen brine shrimp or blood worms. What should we feed them for tonight? They're not big enough for earthworms yet... even chopped up...

They will be OK overnight. If possible to separate them, do so to avoid the "mmmm that arm looks tasty" problem. If you are really, really worried, something like finely chopped tilapia or shrimp, maybe? Get frozen - the freezing kills parasites.

Have you already fed them today? If so then don't worry too much you cam wait until tomorrow to get more food.

They will be fine until tomorrow. Axolotls are commonly not fed at all for 2-3 days before they are shipped to cut down on waste output and ammonia during shipment, which also takes 2-3 days. Your axies will be perfectly fine, although slightly more hungry tomorrow! Feed them a little extra in the morning. Also, it's probably time to switch to live blackworms at this stage in their development. They are more nutritious, and can be farmed at your home pretty easily if you have time/space. There's a section on this forum about worms in the food forum. Check it out. Cheers!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
