I am planning on using an Ozone air cleaner in my house to get rid of some unpleasant odors. I have used the machine before, but not in a house with amphibians. Has anyone ever noted a problem. The manufacturer says there shouldn't be a problem, but I wonder. When an ozone air cleaner runs there is a definite bleach/ozone smell in the air.
Thanks for any feedback.

I would doubt that there'll be enough residual ozone in the air to damage your amphibians without you getting headaches and inflamed mucous membranes but I'd err on the side of caution with exposure times and location of the unit.

As ozone is such a powerful oxydiser I'm surprised to see it used in this way - just for clarity's sake, you don't mean an ioniser do you?

I mean an ozone air cleaner. I am a landlord/property manager. We use ozone machines to get rid of smoke smell, dog/cat odors and even mold spores in damp basements. I was planning on using it to kill some dog odor.

I see, If your generator is safe for human exposure and kicks out less that .03ppm of residual ozone it should be safe for short-term exposure but I'd cover terrestrial enclosures for the duration of use and make sure the windows were open.

It might be an idea to have an airpump in an untreated room, or even outside, delivering fresh air into the viv. Aquatic animals should be largely unaffected as the redox potential of the water should handle some O3 but activated carbon added to the filter will remove any risk.
