<u>WILLIAMSPORT SUN-GAZETTE</u> (Pennsylvania) 15 October 06 Hellbenders event set
Lock Haven: The public is invited to the Lock Haven University Parsons Union Building on Oct. 23 to hear about the hellbender, a large, aquatic salamander native to the eastern U.S. that has been known to reach up to 2 1/2 feet in length.
Dr. Peter Petokas of the Lycoming College Clean Water Institute has been working on research projects on the large amphibians that were once found in streams and rivers throughout the state. The free presentation is sponsored by the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy.
A buffet dinner is planned before the presentation for 5:30 p.m. Cost is $16 per person. Reservations and payment are due today.
