Pair of axolotl

I'm seriously considering an axolotl but I don't want just one. I was thinking a pair mainly for more activity in the tank if I do go that route I would have a 75gal tank, in my mind with plants sand ect... I don't want them for breeding. And I was hoping that would be suitable for the rest of their lives. Any suggestions or advice for my thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

I think that sounds like a fine idea! Those will be two lucky axolotls. Breeders sometimes offer adult axies, so you can be sure of their sex when you get them. You could ask around or post a wanted ad. Just in case you are interested, I have one young adult olive green wild type female with beautiful spots for sale. She is just about 8 inches now.

75gal is a perfect size for 2 axies. If you get 2 of the same sex you won't have breeding issues, 2 males together are fine, they don't get territorial.

'Zactly! Two males or two females is definitely what you want. I have no preference personally.... my males are just as beautiful and charming as my females :happy:

If you find a breeder or someone selling larger axolotls it might be better going with two males just because even at 1 year old a 'female' can suddenly mature into a male. So two males are just a guarantee no surprises
