So I have an axie named Andrew who's about 5-6 months old. He's usually very active and social, but summer has officially started here in Wisconsin and it has been very hot out. I've been having a pretty hard time keeping his water cool. All I can really do at this point is give him the coldest water I can when giving him changes and put lots of ice in his tank whenever the ice is ready. But still, I can tell the heat is really taking it's toll on him. He hardly moves to the point where his gills are almost completely white, he's barely eating either. I'm planning on ordering an aquarium chiller, but they're very expensive and I won't be able to order it until this Friday. (I also do have a tank fan for him, but it doesn't do much of anything in this heat.) So please, how can I keep his water cool until his aquarium chiller arrives?? He's getting pretty sick and I don't want to lose another axolotl. Please help me!!

Try freezing bottles of water. Use conditioned water in them just in case the water leaks out. This way you can have a couple in the freezer and however many you need in the tank to keep it cool. Just rotate them. If it is super hot in the tank and he is in bad shape you can fridge him till the temp comes down.

If you do a search on this site, you will find it is an often discussed topic.
