Plethodon cheoah

Finally got around to taking some pics of my cheoah salamanders...

They are similar to P. shermani (the red legged race) but only occur in the Nantahala, Cheoah and one more mountain who's name is slipping my mind.

Here is the female.

They have been settling in nicely over the past week or so and have been basically where you see them there whenever I poked my head in.

Very cool. What temps are you keeping them at?

I keep them at my room temperature... I like it cold so it is usually around 50-60.

And yes, Boone is the place to be for salamanders.

Well, I hate to admit it, but the male escaped a while back. Don't know how... She has been doing great though, still sitting on her rock and eating everything I throw in there. I haven't had any temps problems, they seem happy sitting on the floor. I like changing out the substrate once a month when its warm. Had a fungal problem last fall, but that cleared up quick after changing and cleaning. All in all its been well, just wish he didnt leave :,(
