Is there any use for polystyrene in a aquatic tank for axolotls?
Ive herd through the grape vine it can be used to cool tanks is this right? Or is it that it heats the tanks up?

Your correct in it being used to wrap tanks in. They'll wrap up 3 sides of the tank. Once you get the water cooled it will stay cool longer.

Right, it's an insulator. It doesn't affect your water temperature directly, but if your tank is cooler than the room it's in, the polystyrene can help keep it cool. Unless you are using ice or a chiller to cool your tank, the polystyrene does you no good.

Well i do use iced water bottles etc to cool the tank as well as a medium sized fan.

It can also be carved, coated with acrylic concrete media, and painted for very light realistic looking rocks.;)
