Hiya, am reading up on cycling a tank for newts, and came across a post that says pond water can be used? And that if pond water and live plants were used it will be OK for newts to go in straight away?

I have a healthy pond in my garden, so if I were to use some pond water, fresh dechlorinated water and live plants, would that be suitable for newts to go in?

Ive also read about using filter media from established fish tanks, can this be done? If so my partners brother has fish tanks that we could have filter media from and some water.

Thanks alot :)
