No luck breeding mine this year sadly, but heres a few pics I took of them today while in a holding tank.
I was doing a big clean of their main tank, and trying to rid it of the massive explosion of gammarus in there,
I wish Id never introduced gammarus to any of my tanks, but you live and learn eh lol

Years ago I added gammarus to most of my newt set ups,[as a food source] and have yet to see any get eaten.
However the shrimp hide away well, eat, and breed like mad untill in the end, huge amounts can be removed from the set ups each water change

I think newts and salamanders get a bit fussy when kept in captivity and food is not as hard to come by.
Another live food item I have introduced to tanks in the past, have NEVER seen eaten, but then they breed to huge numbers are water slaters

Beautiful salamanders Morg. They must be hard to come by over there. I only ever saw one in Europe when I lived there, and that was in Germany.

A note on the habitats. Thanks to a friend, I recently found Pseudotriton ruber larvae in abundance in a spring fed pond. They were living with Notophthalmus, Ambystoma, and the usual pond inhabitants. The Pseudotriton were living in the sediment at the bottom of the pond and would come out to feed at night (my personal observations).

you got a cooler :D Thats so cool! i normally chill their water down if it gets too warm with clean dechlorinated water when they were in their bigger tanks. i'll need to get one that can work with two tanks at some point. or find them for cheap and get two quiet ones. since im in an apartment.
