Hi
I was going to get some plants for my tank but the thing that is bugging me is, do I have to quarantine the plants that I buy from the fish shop, I quarantine my fish/axies but what about plants

You don't have to, but you certainly could. A lot of aquatic plants, especially from pet stores will come in with snails on them. Depending upon how you feel about snails this can be quite bad. I'm sure there are other small animals, fungi and plants that could ride in but I doubt too many of them are dangerous. Some people disinfect their plants by giving them a bath in potassium permanganate. You can find a description here, but let me reiterate that pages warning, permanganate stains easily, quickly and permanently. Be very careful with it or everything will be a nasty brown, not the pretty purple of the solution.

Thanks for that was just wondering if the plants might be carrying any disease that could be passed on, but I can’t wait to put my plants in my tank bit impatient lol:lol: after cycling the tank, If I washed the plants well before hand any got rid of any snails or things like that you think it would be ok, don’t really want to use potassium permanganate

Tanks for that
