I have four T. marmoratus of Portuguese origin, three females and one male. They spent summer and autumn in a vivarium. In December I placed them into an aquarium and the male and one of the females entered the water immediately and produced lots of fertile eggs. The other two females didn't follow them. Finally one of them also went into water about two weeks ago and I'm hoping the last one will join the rest soon. The male in the meantime lost his crest and spends nights on land. Is there a possibility that he would crest up and court the females again?
The situation with these newts was the same last year, the same female went aquatic and bred straight away, the other two didn't want to. They are about 4 years old.
