I was cleaning the tank, when all of a sudden, I noticed a small shell clinging onto the plastic of the tank. This shell was slightly smaller than a match head. I took it out using a turkey baster and put it on my table and it poked out what looked like a snail head! This is completely random since I did NOT put any snails in my tank! The only other things living in the tank are a plant and some guppies. I took some pics but they were too blurry. Please help!!

Usually plants from pet stores will have snails in them. Snails can infest an aquarium. Axolotls can be eat snails and be unable to digest them. Best bet is to take out your plants and put them in a separate container with water and some form of anti-snail solution. Some people use lots of salt, some people use specific snail killer stuff. After a while and possibly a couple different treatments, rinse them thoroughly in tap water and then add them back to the tank. If the problem persists then keep trying. It can be rough.

Thank you! I will try it out!

I had the exact same thing in my tank. Nothing for months then suddenly, one day (also no changes or nothing new added) I started noticing these tiny little snails. Can't complain though, they have been eating my algae and killing off my hydra, the tank never looked cleaner!
