Okay so I have 3 axolotls in a ten gallon tank, there babys only about 1.5in each. There the only things in the tank but the filter and sand. So tomorrow i'm going out to get decor for them to hide in a what not and one thing I am in debate about is real or fake plants. Do they benifet from live plants? Also what else do you all have in your tanks? like caves or anything like that? Any info would be great!
Thanks

:ufo:<----(I just thought it looked cool so i had to put it up! lol)

I prefer live plants because healthy plants contribute to a healthy tank - they help keep water quality good. I am also an avid gardener and really enjoy "landscaping" aquatic tanks, though I always go with low maintenance floating plants or those that can root onto wood. But I don't think your animals will care either way as long as they have a nice secure place to hide. And also be aware that dying/decaying plants can wreck havoc on water quality so if you don't think you can or want to keep plants alive go with fake.

Yes real plants are good, but some will need good lighting and a certain type of bulb designed for plant growth if you are going to use artificial light to sustain them. Do a bit of research on plants online or ask your aquatic/petshop what they suggest?

Hi crested crazy
I have a mix of fake and real. Start out with just 1 and see how it goes in your tank.Try to find plants that grow well in low light so you wont need to buy a light. I also have a pvc pipe cave and some teracotta pots for them to hide in .
Hope this gives you some ideas.

Thank you all, I have some really great ideas on how I will be setting up mu tank. I'm going with one maybe two plants since I already have an expensive light used for plants when I had a fish tank set up in the past. Now that I know it will not hurt them I'll get some live some fake and probley a pvc pipe or maybe some type of a cave. I'll post pictures as soon as its all set up.
Thanks again!;)

Okay so I spent like an hour and i still cant find out how to post pictures.
Please help me with this so I can show my tank and see what you all think.
Thanks;)
