I rescued a axie from the lfs today he has his 2 front legs his gills on 1 side and his tail biten of and looks like he might be developing a fungi
i will post pics but for now wat should i do for him???????

i would put him in a container in the fridge. give salt baths twice daily until the fungi has gone.

And dont forget to change to water in the container daily. Keep a bottle of dechlorinated water or another container of dechlorinated water in the fridge so that the water changes are the same temp and dont shock ur axie.
If he has trouble swimming you could try keeping the water level low enough so that he can sit on the bottom and put his head at the water surface. Make sure there is enough water to cover him tho.
Try lidding the container so that the fridge light doesnt upset him, it may also cut temp fluctuations.
Hope all this helps. Good luck!

he seems ok other than missing parts he can still swim alright i havent put him in the fridge but i am giving him salt baths twice daily
i will get some pics wen i get home from school

From now on, you should try to refrain from 'rescuing' animals from pet shops. Buying their sick animals only encourages them to get more, and keep them in the same conditions.

That's what you have to do in order to keep them from getting more. It's the hardest thing to do, but it's also the right thing to do. If they see that people are willing to buy sick and mangled axolotls, they'll just get more. If the axolotls they get in end up dying without being purchased, they won't buy any more.

the main thing to get under control is the fungi as the other parts such as tail legs and gills will regenerate, just try to keep it as unstressed as possible.

but joan it probably costed them money cause it was $5 and they where selling it for $20

Trust me on this, Clay. It's best not to 'rescue' things from pet shops.

Yeah Joan is right. They will just keep 'abusing' the new axie that are brought in. I really wanted to save the runt of a litter of axies at a shop because it was unbeliveablething with 3 legs missing and slime all over it. But if it wasn't gonna be that one that gets bafly treated it'd b another eventually.

Heyheyhey, don't judge Clay anymore. It would have been the right thing to leave the axie in the petshop, yeah, but he has got him/her now, and the main thing now is we help him get this little axie better, right? Lucky axie, very cute. Sorry can't help on how to get him better, but am sure somebody does. Fingers crossed for little Munon

I understand, don't worry

The guys are right - but you should see my LFS - they're great!
They had a very poorly 'Lotl sent in to them - they were unable to care for him - so they called me to, free of charge.
Delighted.

A slight miscalculation on my part resulted in an accident with my slightly bigger axie, so now poor Ari hasn't got a tail either, so we both understand... (Whoops)

HOWEVER - the other problems, with the floating upsidedown, and the underweightness are pretty much solved - I just need to fatten him up a bit.

Sherri, we weren't judging Clay at all. But I was just trying to explain to him why it may have felt like the right decision at the time, it may not necessarily be the right decision in the long run.

I'm glad to hear the little guy is getting better. The legs will probably regrow slowly, if your temperatures are low.
